Hilperton Greyhound FC 3 Holt FC 5
Battling for a place in the top flight, last season saw honours shared by Hilperton Greyhound FC and Holt FC, the first meeting of the teams this campaign went the way of Nigel Tripp’s Holt side who came out top in an 8-goal thriller, thanks to a 5-3 success.
Jacob Nsirim put Holt ahead after 8 minutes from a Kieran Plummer assist, Plummer himself went from provider to scorer in the 18th minute when he doubled Holt’s advantage.
Greyhound halved the deficit through Liam Lawes who netted on 21 minutes, however the hosts joy was short lived as a second from Jacob Nsirim restored Holt’s two goal lead in the 35th minute, this time it was Jamie Morris who provided the assist to make it 3-1
A minute later. Greyhound were back in the game, Josh Lewis scoring to make things interesting prior to half time, but on the stroke of half time Matt Goodwill added a fourth for Holt to put them back on top again.
The second period began with Greyhound on top and when Ellis Farion scored to cut the gap to the odd goal the hosts must have fancied their chances of getting some from the topsy turvy encounter, but it wasn’t to be their day as a third goal of the afternoon from Jacob Nsirim not only completed his hat trick, it wrapped up a 5-3 win for Holt who are starting to like life in the division.
